No excuses for behaviour

After September 11th. 2001, all airports and airlines have been placed on high alert for security reasons. It is required that all airport users follow specific instructions by the designated authorities for the safety of everyone.

Lately the media were filled with the news that a passenger, Mr. Gaul was booted off the BWIA airline for not abiding with normal use of airport facilities.

Mr. Gaul, now a Swedish citizen, has no excuses for behaving in such an unbecoming manner. Why must he be shouting in the first place and objecting to the specific instructions given to everyone?

Living in a more advanced society, Mr. Gaul should have exercised better judgment. The aggressor is now pictured as a victim. With the temperament exhibited at that time in this climate of uncertainty, Mr. Gaul needs to apologies to all and sundry for his lawless behaviour.

Etiquette is most important wherever we go and I do agree that any passenger behaving in such a manner should not be tolerated, during or after the terrorist crises.

I fail to imagine Mr. Gaul behaving like this in Europe, North America or any other developed nation.

Lately on a flight to a South American destination from the USA, a passenger was dealt several blows to the head by the pilot with an axe after he tried to gain entry into the cockpit. Several charges were laid against the passenger for this rowdy behaviour which if convicted, will lead to several years in prison. The pilot was not charged.

Zero tolerance will be exercised. There should be no exceptions to the
rules.

I would strongly advise the Government and the relevant authorities to look at the legitimate cases.
