For the past few months there has been a lot of talk with regards to a successor to replace Mr Hugh Desmond Hoyte, when he steps down. It is clear that Mr Hoyte has made a tremendous and laudable contribution to the party, but I am of the view that he should call it a day taking his health into consideration.

We must face the harsh reality that whoever becomes the next leader will either break or make the party. This is the reality of the possible candidates, if Robert Corbin goes into the next election as leader, the party does not stand a ghost of a chance, Mr Raphael Trotman will win just enough seats to be the main opposition party. Mr Vincent Alexander will ensure that the party creates history by winning no seats for the first time, while Mr Cammie Ramsaroop will ensure a massive victory.

There are a lot of persons who are willing to vote for the PNC, but are afraid because they get the impression that East Indians can only go up to a certain level in the PNC. It is time that the Party proves them wrong by giving Mr Cammie Ramsaroop an opportunity to exercise his leadership skills which I am certain will reap tons of success for the party.
