Local cyclists to race in National Park Saturday

Local cyclists will be in action on Saturday when National Sports Commission cycle coach Hassan Mohamed conducts an 11-race programme at the National Park, beginning at 9am. The event is being sponsored by Universal Auto and General Supplies of Hope Front, Enmore, East Coast Demerara.The feature race will bring together schoolboys and novice riders over 35 laps, while juveniles will do battle over 10 laps.

Three five-lap races are on the card, one each for veterans under-45, veterans over-45 and upright cyclists.

Racing cyclists 12-14 years of age as well as BMX boys 12-14 and 9-12 years will compete in three-lap events, while BMX girls 6-12 years of age and BMX boys 6-9 years old will do battle over one and two laps respectively.

A representative of the sponsor is expected to be on hand to witness the races and make the presentation of prizes to the respective winners.
