Former beauty queen Carolan Lynch, the wife of slain Swiss House Cambio boss Farouk Razac, is likely to be charged with murder today.

However, attorney at law Nigel Hughes, on behalf of Ms Lynch's brother, Robert, has moved to the court for a writ of habeas corpus.

Sources say that investigators have found discrepancies in Lynch's statements on events that occurred following Razac's death.

For instance, a handyman and a female who were at the couple's home at the time that Lynch alleged that she left the Bel Air Park home, on the Monday Razac was slain, have claimed that Lynch did not leave the premises at the time that she claimed.

According to investigators, Lynch had told detectives that her personal trainer was at the house on Monday.

However, none of the couple's employees recalled seeing the trainer enter or leave the premises. The trainer was among the persons who were detained.

Detectives also say that a number of puzzling events occurred shortly before and on the day that Razac was slain. The extremely security-conscious couple always posted guards at the house, and also had security cameras installed.

Razac had reportedly told police that he had purchased an unlicensed weapon because he feared notorious gunman Rondel ‘Fine Man' Rawlins. However, according to the investigators, Lynch left the gate open on Monday when she left the house.

Investigators also said that someone had also apparently slashed the wires of the security cameras. They also found that no cassettes were in the monitors. The cassettes would have assisted detectives in viewing all visitors to the premises.

One close friend said that on previous occasions when police raided the property, they were always able to secure tapes from security cameras. On this occasion, when police checked during their investigations, they found no tapes. A handyman also stated that while she was leaving in her car, Lynch refused to let him wipe off the vehicle. He stated that she would routinely allow him to wipe the vehicle when she was leaving.

Lynch has told investigators that she found Razac lying on the bedroom floor and that he was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital , where he was pronounced dead. However, there are reports that Razac's body bore evidence that he had died hours before his body was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital .

Detectives also revealed last night that they had found several ‘suspicious-looking' scratches on Lynch's upper body. Kaieteur News was also told that an examination of telephone records revealed that several questionable calls were made to and from the couple's house within the time Razac might have died.

Investigators have learnt that the couple had marital problems and that they slept in separate bedrooms.

The popular cambio dealer was found dead early Monday. There were signs of external injuries on his neck, and a pathologist also found internal damage to the neck.

The autopsy indicated that he had been strangled.

Meanwhile, attorneys for Carolan Lynch yesterday issued a writ of habeas corpus ordering Commissioner (ag) of Police, Henry Greene, to produce her in court today, and to justify her continued detention. In the writ, Lynch's attorneys contended that the cause of Razac's death was strangulation that resulted from the use of considerable force by the assailant, who might have committed the murder. The writ contended that the force required to inflict the fatal injury could not have been inflicted by Lynch, “as she is not possessed of the requisite strength to have inflicted the injuries which caused the death of Farouk Razac.”

According to the writ, Lynch has not been questioned by any police officer about the issue of the strangulation of her husband and has also not been informed that she is a suspect in the inquiries into her husband's death.

The writ is scheduled to be heard before Justice Rishi Persaud this morning.
