The Alliance For Change (AFC) in its new year's message, urges citizens to participate meaningfully and responsibly in the social, political and economic activities of the country.

In a press release, the party said every country has its challenges and "our mettle was well tested in the face of rising levels of crime and violence and continued hardships for the working poor as the economy remained sluggish." The party also said it believes that until greater emphasis is placed on the country's disadvantaged, the wealth will remain hidden; it therefore urges the government to address the needs of the poor in a meaningful way this year. At the same time, the group said it hopes that the goodwill and kindness citizens extended to each other during the season will continue through the new year. The AFC said in order to make this a reality, citizens need to "take careful stock of [their] achievements and strive to strengthen [their] weakest links."
