Le Grand Penthouse on Commerce Street was reopened to the public on Friday evening after a $100M renovation.

The 30-room facility which towers over the capitol city is a newly upgraded edifice endowed with a unique location amid the shopping and entertainment district of downtown Georgetown.

Hotel administrator, Pamela Manasseh, emphasised that the location of the hotel is its number on asset since it is easily accessible to all major landmarks and transports, with the shopping mall within walking distance of the hotel.

Manasseh noted that tourists do not want to be placed distances from the hub of activity. She added that they would prefer to interact with society, hence their reason for the visit to the country.

She added that not only is the hotel an optimum choice for leisure travel, Le Grand Penthouse is also the address for executive travellers.

Previously a 45-room facility, the renovation allowed the rooms and suites to be entirely recreated, offering guests even more space.

The sleek oriental designs incorporate contemporary luxuries that will astonish even the seasoned traveller.

Each of the suites and rooms is internet ready and furnished with an executive business writing desk. It also features contemporary amenities such as broadband internet, telephone, 24–hour cable and satellite large screen TV, in–room safety box among others.

Le Grand Penthouse offers the option of single, double or executive suites.

In his presentation at the rededication ceremony, Randolph Bhaichandeen noted that in numerous ways guests will discover thoughtful ingenuities designed for their personal comfort.

“Our intention is that our new rooms, just as our legendary service has always done, welcome each guest as if he or she were returning home,” said Bhaichandeen.

Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Manniram Prashad, noted that Guyana is in a transformation process with the positive developments taking place.

He noted that the quality and standards in the new hotel is comparable with the facilities in the Caribbean countries which are tourism-oriented.

The Minister added that the recent investments made in Guyana are enormous, but it comes at an opportune time when Guyana is engaged in a tourism thrust with Government making the sector a priority.

Given the location of Le Grand Penthouse, the proprietor remodeled the first floor to facilitate parking for guests. That floor also houses a taxi service for the guests.

Bhaichandeen noted that the roof garden will be opened in the coming months to complement the circular bar.
