The entertainment activities for World Cup staging in Guyana are many, and the Slingers family will not be left out.

The entertainment promoters say that tourists/entertainment seekers can be assured of true Caribbean flavour entertainment between March 26 and March 29 on Merriman's Mall.

In a release, the Slingerz Entertainment family, who brought Biker Fest and Baby Chain (twice) to Guyana, stated: “We are about to deliver a promise made at the last Baby Chain Show, November 5, 2006.”

Javed Ali, Chief Executive Officer of Slingerz Entertainment, says: “We believe that Guyana 's Entertainment and Tourism industries can bring much economic gain to our country, and so, with the blessings of City Hall, we plan to contribute our part for our homeland for the big game in 2007.”

The “West Indian White Nite” features 14 nights of clean entertainment on Merriman's Mall - between New Garden and Oronoque Streets, Georgetown .

Slingerz West Indian White Nite will feature, on the opening day, a big Welcome to Guyana Show and Lime, and will continue daily from noon to midnight, where all patrons will be admitted free every night.

The scene on the Merriman's Mall will be one where everything possible will be coloured white - tents, booths, stage, lights, games - and patrons are advised to dress in all-white on the opening day.

Visitors and locals can also look forward to events, such as Brazilian Night with a live Brazilian Band, a Jamaican Night with a surprise Jamaican artiste, and Indian Night with cuisines prepared by a top Indian chef from Trinidad and Tobago .

To ensure the safety of patrons, portable toilet facilities will be installed, while first aid providers and private security will be employed. Guyanese cuisines will be available; a DVD big screen will showcase the Game of the Day.

During the 14 days, most of Guyana 's top artistes will be given the opportunity to showcase their talent before the thousands expected to visit Guyana during that period. Music for the event will be provided by Slingerz family, being spun by a line-up of local artistes, including D J. Ants Man, Cheddi, Vicious, and Selector Collis.

Sponsors to this ‘family event' include Ansa McAl, Carib Beer/Smalta, DDL-Pepsi, and Impulse Energy Drink. The organisers say that “support for this event is given by the L.O.C. Guyana, Ministry of Tourism, The Enhancement Committee, and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.

Among the international artistes billed to perform at the event are Maka Diamond, Assassin, and Peter Ram.
