The trial of Swiss House boss, Farouk Razac, and his beauty queen wife, Carolan Lynch, yesterday took another twist when the prosecutor asked for time to file two other statements.

The couple is appearing before Magistrate Gordon Gilhuys in the Georgetown Magistrates' Court.

Prosecutor Robert Tyndall, yesterday, said that after examining the file, he saw that it was vital to file the statements.

Attorney-at-law Mark Waldron, who appeared on behalf of the couple in the absence of attorney-at-law Nigel Hughes, objected to the prosecutor's request.

Waldron said that the prosecutor has not satisfied the court as to why he should be allowed the request.

He also said that the file has been with the prosecutor since November last year, and that it is unfortunate that the state is now putting its case together.

Waldron told the court that the prosecution had enough time to file statements.

Tyndall then asked the court for a short date to ask the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to reply.

Magistrate Gilhuys told Razac and Lynch to return to court on May 17 for reply and continuation.

On Friday last, missing statements stalled the trial.

The day before, the prosecution called Inspector Dexter Thornton to testify, and while he was giving evidence, defence counsel, Nigel Hughes, observed that the defence had in its position no statement for that part of the evidence being given.

Tyndall had then said that he had no additional statement and made an application for time to file these. Hughes did not object.

But on Friday, Tyndall said that the prosecution was unable to serve the additional statements, and sought additional time.

He was supposed to serve the statements by yesterday.

On Thursday last, Inspector Thornton testified that, during the raid at the businessman's house, Razac said that he was keeping the weapon that was found to combat wanted man Rondell ‘Fineman' Rawlins if he should attack him.

Razac and Carolan Lynch are on trial for unlawful possession of four 9 mm magazines, one Beretta automatic pistol and 120 rounds of 9 mm ammunition at their Ireng Place , Bel Air home on November 10 last year.
