Steel pan music provided by the City Jammers permeated the atmosphere as the second floor of the City Mall was opened to the public on Thursday.

The area, which houses 19 stores, will feature new additions, such as an Indian accessories department, ‘Annjees' as well as DK Drug Mart, which will have a doctor on call; Roxie's Hair Fashions; Sensation Body Care; and Western Union, among others.

When Kaieteur News visited the facility, Sales and Marketing Manager of the shopping precinct, Clive Muridall, noted that the recent heavy demand by businesses for outlets in the edifice has prompted the latest launch.

He noted that from the inception, patrons have flocked the businesses daily and most are particularly pleased with the convenience of an escalator, the first of its kind in this country.

He added that, within a month's time, the modern shopping centre will install an elevator for easier access to the upper floors, since the escalators take patrons only to the first floor.

The building already houses a variety of businesses, such as The Spicy Dish, King's Jewellery World, Amanda's Costume Jewellery, Old Navy, The Edge Cellular Phone outlet, GT&T, and Digicel, among others.

Two movie theatres will soon be part of the facility.
