Musical and cultural entertainment, art & craft, tasty refreshments and fun activities are just a sample of what's being planned for spectators in Fan Zones at ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.

These designated areas, which will essentially be the “liming spots” of the tournament, will be set up within the stadium environs at most Host Venues, offering those attending matches a variety of attractions and a place to hang out before, during and after play on Match Day.

”Everyone knows that cricket and liming - or hanging out - go hand-in-hand in the Caribbean and CWC felt it necessary to create a location within the stadium to foster this atmosphere; to allow fans to stretch their legs during matches or to enjoy a drink and chat with friends after the game,” said ICC CWC 2007 Commercial Director, Stephen Price, outlining the Fan Zone concept.

”There will be a range of activities and even services in this concourse, such as video and interactive cricket games; face & body painting; hair braiding; temporary tattoos; photography booths; bouncing castles for children; mobile massage therapists and concession stands providing a variety of food and drink. In addition, CWC sponsors will have booths with special promotions and it will give them an opportunity to interact with the cricketing public.”

Official CWC merchandise and cricket memorabilia will also be on sale in the Fan Zones which will be outfitted with close-circuit coverage of the ongoing match so nobody need fear missing any on-field action.

”I think spectators are going to love the Fan Zones. There's something for everyone and lots to do. I think it will become the place to be on Match Days, especially when the game is over and people are looking for somewhere to relax and have a drink,” added Price.
