KINGSTON , Jamaica - Jamaica predictably wrapped up full points against Guyana , needing just under two hours to complete a seven-wicket triumph at Kensington Park yesterday.

Big 25-year-old fast bowler Andrew Richardson picked up the last two Guyana wickets as the visitors, resuming at 217 for eight, were dismissed for 232.

Set 63 to win, Jamaica suffered a minor scare when they slipped to nine for two, but recovered in time to reach their target with the loss of only an additional wicket.

Right-arm fast bowler Esaun Crandon was the chief destroyer, taking three for 34.

Ahead by only 47 at the start, Guyana 's hopes of extending the game far into the day rested heavily on Derwin Christian, unbeaten on 32.

Both he and his partner Veerasammy Permaul survived chances in the early overs but Permaul was eventually first out when he drove Richardson to Danza Hyatt at mid-on with the score on 231. With one run added, Christian's long vigil ended when he was clean bowled by Richardson for 37. He faced 97 balls in 158 minutes, and struck three fours.

Jamaica suffered a few anxious moments in pursuit of the small total for victory. Crandon bowled Brenton Parchment off the inside edge for five with the score on eight and one run later, had Danza Hyatt caught by substitute Assad Fudadin at third slip for three.

Lorenzo Ingram (22) and captain Wavell Hinds, who was unbeaten on 18 at the end, averted any danger for the hosts with a 31-run third wicket stand.

The visitors, whose first two games ended in no-results in Grenada and Trinidad, remain on eight points while Jamaica took 12 points from the game to move second in the standings with 21 points.

Meanwhile, the two teams now face-off tomorrow in the third round of the KFC Cup one-day competition. Defending champions Guyana will be hoping for their first win in the competition while the hosts have won both of their games so far.
