Roads to be closed to vehicles for CWC

THE Police Force yesterday announced that the roads listed below will be closed to vehicular traffic between 06:00h and 11:00h on the following dates:

March 28

March 30

April 1

April 3

April 7

April 9

The Eastern carriageway from D’Aguiar Intersection to Providence will be used for vehicles transporting the Teams, Officials, Media and Sponsors (TOMS). Only vehicles authorised by the Local Organisation Committee (LOC) and issued with the appropriate sticker will be allowed to use that carriageway. North bound and south bound traffic from D’Aguiar intersection, East Bank Demerara, to Providence Public Road will use the western carriageway.

Traffic will be restricted on the under-mentioned roadways as may be required between March 24 and April 10 to facilitate passage from the airport and to practice venues i.e. Everest and Bourda grounds and Providence Stadium.

ROUTE 1 -- East Bank Public Road from Timehri to Mandela Avenue, Sheriff Street, Rupert Craig Highway, Clive Lloyd Drive, Kitty Public Road, Carifesta Avenue, Young Street, High Street.

ROUTE 2 Vlissengen Road, Regent Street, New Garden Street, Middle Street, Camp Street, Quamina Street, Cummings Street, Church Street.

The public is asked to adhere to instructions given by policemen in uniform and warnings sounded by sirens along these roads.

These closures and restrictions are intended to facilitate the safe and efficient passage of Teams, Officials, Media and Sponsors during the Cricket World Cup.

The Police Force said an order on the prohibition of articulated vehicles, lorries, tractors and trailers and animal drawn vehicles using the road between Mandela Avenue to Timehri and the Demerara Harbour Bridge will be published today.
