DURING a meeting with representatives of the regional media fraternity in Kingstown, St Vincent Monday, President Bharrat Jagdeo reiterated his government’s commitment to promoting and sustaining the fundamental right of freedom of the press.

The President extended an invitation to representatives of the Caribbean media to visit Guyana, which would afford them the opportunity to observe first-hand, the freedom which media practitioners in Guyana enjoy, in keeping with his government’s commitment to democracy and freedom of expression.

The Head-of-State took time off from his busy schedule at the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Intersessional Conference of Heads meeting of Government, being held in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to meet representatives of the regional media fraternity.

The President is expected to return to Guyana today. (GOVERNMENT INFORMATION AGENCY)
