THE touring American Cricket Society (ACS) of the United States of America is presently in Guyana on short tour in which the foreigners will play several cricket matches, mainly in Demerara and Berbice.

Yesterday, the ACS, formed 26 years ago, opened their fifth tour of Guyana with a 40 overs cricket match against Malteenoes, at the Malteenoes Ground in Thomas Lands .

The ACS is regarded over the years as being one of the top cricket team, participating in the Metropolitan and Eastern American Cricket Leagues, in the United States , having won the Eastern American Cricket League Championship in 2006.

During their stay in Guyana , ACS will also confront Georgetown Cricket Club, Everest and Enmore, while they will also travel to Berbice to tackle Chesney, a leading second division team in the Ancient County .

Among the players expected to be on show for the tourist are skipper Zamin Amin, Prem Manbodhe, Tony Roberts, Terry Hastoo and former Guyana Under 15 captain Karan Ganesh.

Talented Guyana Under 19 middle order batsman Gajanand Singh, former Guyana Under 19 all-rounder Zaheer Saffee and national fast bowler Rayon Griffith will also be part of the ASC line-up as guest players. (Vemen Walter
