What is the most interesting place you've ever visited in Guyana? Why? We asked the man/woman in the street and this is what they had to say:

Denzelyn Clarke, student: 'The most interesting place that I have visited is Ituni, I am from North Sophia. I say this because there used to be bauxite mining in this area and they have large pits. The water inside of the pits has different colours and I particularly find the green water fascinating".

Dale Chester, private sector employee: 'I find the Hills by the Linden Highway very interesting. The landscape is nice and I go there once a month to relax and be at home with nature. There are also creeks and I would sometimes go and take a place, this place has nice scenery which is why I enjoy going there'.

Beverly Benjamin, private sector employee: 'Iwokrama is the most interesting place I have ever visited in Guyana. They do the canopy walk there and the huts are really nice. In the evening when you go out in the boats you can see the nice lake with the caimansā€¦ some of them are friendly. At the back of the place there is a track and you can see all sorts of things. I was there for a weekend and would really love to go back.'

Davendra Jaggernauth, UG student: 'I have not visited a lot of places but I went once to Bartica, I'm from Essequibo, and I found the scenery there nice. The place is like the city in the night and I enjoyed walking around. I especially enjoyed the Sea Breeze bar which is nice and I would someday like to go back for a visit.'

Vanessa Emmanuel: 'The most interesting place for me is the South Dakota circuit where they had the car races recently. That place I enjoyed visiting because it's like the country area. I believe that it needs to be developed more though but I will return for another visit.

Shaun Khemraj, Senior Auditor: 'The most interesting place I've ever visited is the Jubilee resort in Guyana. I believe it's the first of its kind in Guyana and it has two big slides which I feel is amazing. I went there on a staff trip and I am looking forward to going again. The atmosphere is good and the place is away from the noise of the town and is quite peaceful.

Chaka Browne, Bank Teller: 'I haven't been to many places but I find Shanklands Resort, White Water, Marshall Falls very interesting. I find the natural beauty of Guyana interesting. Those places were fun for me and I would encourage anyone to visit.'

Anthony Thomas, Public sector employee: 'I'm from Georgetown and I visited Skeldon in Berbice four years ago in connection with my work. Since then I have always wanted to return. I find the place interesting because they have Tapirs and I have never gotten the opportunity to take a ride in the Tapir. Skeldon is just a change in the atmosphere for me and I like the place.'

Sherry Mars, private sector employee: I visited the Pomeroon and I found the way of life of the people there interesting. I look at how they use the resources to survive and the small children who paddle their own boats, it's a sight to see, just wonderful. I have also found Dora, Essequibo, Shanklands even the museum which teaches you so much about the country, I find interesting and nice as well.

Montgomery Richmond, UG student: I'm originally from Linden and I find Georgetown interesting. Here you get to meet a lot of people and you find a lot of things here that are not in Linden.
