Proclaiming Jesus as Lord over Guyana , several Christian denominational churches held the Annual Inter-Church Christmas Parade yesterday.

The convoy began walking from Patentia, West Bank Demerara, all the way to Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.

Waving brightly coloured banners and marching festively behind beautifully decorated floats, the procession swayed merrily to popular rhythms.

Participants included those from the Congregational, Full Gospel, Assembly of God, Moravian, Church of God and Presbyterian Churches along the West Bank and West Coast Demerara.

The crowd then congregated at the Vreed-en-Hoop Ferry Stelling where pastors from the various churches participated in a dance off.

The parade included scores of youths, the elderly and the middle-aged, who joined hands as they prayed for continued guidance.

One pastor from the Full Gospel Church said that the parade is an annual feature to celebrate the birth of Jesus and not necessarily Christmas.

He said God has been using the West Demerara churches to unite the country.

As such, the worshippers plan to join the Mashramani celebrations to share the word.

He prayed that God will continue to reign and be Lord over Guyana .

The pastor urged the participants to remember the reason behind the season.

The programme also included a cultural show and praise and worship led by a dynamic worship team.

After words of encouragement from their pastors, the procession then rejoined their floats and returned to their villages.
