KINGSTON, Jamaica (CMC) – Cricket World Cup 2007 organisers will unveil the tournament’s Official Song today in Trinidad and Tobago.

The two-hour presentation, featuring internationally-acclaimed Caribbean artistes who have combined to produce the signature tune, is scheduled for the Zen nightclub in Port-of-Spain.

The launch will also feature a fashion show of CWC 2007 merchandise and an appearance by Mello, the event’s mascot, who has just returned from the ICC Champions Trophy in India.

“The Official Song has had the input of a number of Caribbean and CWC stakeholders and I think the Event and the Region will have a song of which they can be proud,” remarked CWC 2007 Marketing Manager, Damon Leon, in a news release.

“We look forward to launching it – and to the World hearing it and embracing it as the spirit of ICC Cricket World Cup 2007.”

More than 100 people, including the media, executives from the music and recording industry, CWC 2007 stakeholders, and officials of the Trinidad & Tobago local organising committee, have been invited to be among the first to hear the song as it is revealed to the World.

Described as a “high energy, up tempo, soca-inspired beat with lyrics themed around the spirit of cricket and the passion which Caribbean people have for the sport”, the song has been in the works for the past few months and is now ready for its international roll-out.

West Indies host the Cricket World Cup between March 11 and April 28 next year.
