Creating trade linkages between large multinational companies and small and medium-size local businesses will be the focus of an Empretec Guyana forum starting on Monday.

An Empretec release says a team from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development(UNCTAD) will deliver a 'Business Linkages Programme.'

The primary objective is to determine the scope for a potential business linkages programme between small and medium enterprises(SMEs) and large companies - primarily multinationals - in Guyana.

The week's activities will culminate with a forum for the general business community on Friday morning at Le Meridien Pegasus. Judy Semple-Joseph, Empretec's post-training officer/business adviser is encouraging Empretecos and large companies to attend the function.

"There is no harm from local companies [doing] business with each other," says Semple-Joseph, even though the event will discuss linkages with multinationals.
