CEL*STAR sent a team to Parika, East Bank Essequibo, on Tuesday to share Christmas cheer, as part of its community outreach.

Among other gifts, a medical hamper worth $40,000 was handed over to Parika Health Centre, Cel*Star Public Relations Officer, Ms. Nicola Johnson reported, adding that it was included in the ‘U Mobile Santa’ drive started last year.

Health Visitor attached to the Maternal and Child Health Department, Ministry of Health, Ms. Linda Johnson said the kind gesture at Parika was appreciated and the medical supplies would benefit children in that village where the demand for medicines is very high.

The gift package contained children’s medication, such as cough syrup, as well as eye drops, syringes and gloves.

Many children who turned out with their mothers met the Cel*Star Santa and received bags of goodies.

Johnson from Cel*Star said the company made donations of food hampers last year to five organisations including orphanages and eight more will get this year.

The 2004 recipients include Joshua House and Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre in Georgetown, Special Needs School and Good Samaritan Home in Berbice and Linden Care Foundation at Mackenzie.
