The Bureau of Statistics is still working towards an end-of-year deadline for the completion of a final report from the 2002 National Population and Household Census.

"We had given a target [date] of the end of the year and we are still working towards that," says Chief Statistician Lennox Benjamin, who explains that the bureau is now scanning enumerator questionnaires to generate detailed results.

In May, the preliminary results were released, showing the country's population to be 749,190.

Data such as employment and migration figures and household income levels will be generated on completion of the scanning exercise, which has been described as an extensive process.

Caricom plans to a detailed analysis of the data generated from the region when all member states have submitted detailed findings.
