Two former information ministers and one of the founder-members of the Working Peoples Alliance (WPA) have expressed differing views on the reasons why there is a lack of first-hand and credible documentation on the life and times of Guyana's first Executive President, Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham.

He died nineteen years ago on August 6, 1985.

Taking part in a special programme on the founder-leader of the People's National Congress, the three participants all agreed that the late Cde. Burnham had the talent and the capacity to write about himself and his beliefs during his long and varied political career.

But like his now deceased wife, Mrs. Viola Burnham, one of the participants who was very close to the executive president disclosed that "he did not find the time..."

Those taking part in the one-hour discourse with Cecil Griffith as the moderator, are former PNC Information Minister and confidant, Elvin Mc David, former PPP Information Minister, Moses Nagamootoo, and one of the founder-members of the WPA, Dr. Rupert Roopnaraine.

The participants dealt with a wide range of issues which arose during the Burnham era, including governance, race, politics and his relations with other political leaders.

Finally the participants reviewed the legacy of Guyana's first executive president.

The one-hour programme sponsored by Banks DIH will be broadcast on NCN, formerly GTV Channel 11, this afternoon at 5 pm.
