Christine Sookram played one of her better rounds of golf to win the Steve's Jewellery- sponsored Medal Play Golf Tournament at the Lusignan Golf Club on Saturday.

Sookram, a junior player, who plays off a nine handicap, returned a gross 79 for a net 70.

According to club member Colin Ming, Sookram has been working hard at her game and she is surely benefiting from her dedication.

Sookram's playing partner and club captain Patrick Prashad, was high in praise for the quality of golf she played.

According to a release, 17 players teed off on a course that was not quite dry on the fairways with generous pin placements on some fairly fast greens and only Sookram played to net par.

Raj Sankar with a gross 80, handicap nine for net 71 placed second, while Graham Pollok with a gross 98, handicap 25 for a net 73, was third.

The nearest to the pin, on the par three number five hole, was won by Joe Solomon, while the longest drive on the No. 2 was won by Mohanlall Dinanauth who also shot the best gross of 78. He plays off a 2 handicap.

The presentation of prizes to the respective winners was done by the club's president Hemraj Kissoon who thanked Steve's Jewellery for their generosity in sponsoring golf for the first time and requested their continued support.
