DDL Chairman, Yesu Persaud, was yesterday voted in as chairman of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), defeating tourism entrepreneur Gerry Gouveia by a single vote. Gouveia was voted in as vice-chairman.

Persaud, who was the founding chairman of the PSC and served in that capacity for a number of years, was elected in his absence but was the choice of the corporate members of the PSC. The corporate members have only 3 of the thirteen votes on the council while umbrella organisations have 10 votes.

Paul Cheong of the Beharry Group was returned as Treasurer while outgoing chairman, Peter deGroot was retained as the secretary.
