Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Gail Teixeira is now Acting Minister of Home Affairs.
She assumes the duties of Home Affairs Minister Ronald Gajraj while he is on leave pending the conclusion of the Commission of Inquiry.
President Bharrat Jagdeo had announced that Minister Teixeira would be charged with the duties of the Home Affairs Minister while he is on leave.
Minister Teixeira has just returned from China where she was on official business.
