SPICY DISH, one of Guyana's tastiest Creole restaurants expanded its service yesterday with the launching of its Take-Away and Catering Service at 53 David Street Kitty.
At a simple opening ceremony, which included prayers by Pastor Yvonne Bumbury from the Church of God, and the cutting of a ribbon, customers paid tribute to an outstanding service and lauded the founders, husband and wife team, Peter and Karen Pollard, for their sterling contribution to the nation.

Spicy Dish has chalked up some two decades of service after humble beginnings in Corriverton and is now firmly established as a household name at the University of Guyana, St. Joseph High School and at Hibiscus Snackette, adjacent to the Guyana Post Office.
According to Ms. Pollard, Spicy Dish reflects a truly Guyanese palate with a wide variety of choices from Creole to Chinese Dishes.

She noted that construction of the new building started in August and was completed some two weeks ago. The new branch has a staff of 35.
According to Mr. Pollard, of utmost importance is the level of service being offered. Focus is being placed on entertaining visitors as well, so that they can be more aware of Guyana's mouth-watering dishes.

Operations Manager Shondelle Justice promised customers pleasant service that is all natural and very comfortable. The location and setting, she said, are perfect for relaxation while patrons enjoy the culinary delights Spicy Dish will offer.

Among those offering words of congratulation were representatives from the community, residents from Corentyne, representatives from the University of Guyana and reigning Miss Guyana Universe Miss Odessa Philips.

Phillips recalled her days at the University of Guyana when students would rush to Spicy Dish for lunch. The quality of food there was "excellent" she told the gathering.

She credited Spicy Dish for launching her into the world fame when it served as her first sponsor at the Miss University of Guyana pageant.
Spicy Dish is open Sunday to Sunday from 7:00 hrs to 23:00 hrs. (Shirwin Campbell and Shinell Jones)
