Major repairs for airport sewerage system

THE Ministry of Public Works and Communications and Kishan Bacchus General Contractors Inc. have signed a $134M contract to repair the sewerage system at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri.

The project, expected to be completed in about five months, will cover construction of manholes, installation of new sewer lines, flushing existing sewer lines and building a waste water holding tank for waste water from aircraft.

This is part of the airport expansion programme. Contracts were recently signed for the design and construction of a sewage treatment plant and repairs to the arrival area.

Permanent Secretary in the Public Works Ministry, Mr. Kenneth Jordan and Mr. Kishan Bacchus signed the contact Wednesday at the ministry boardroom.

Also at the signing were Head of the Air Transport Reform Project, Mr. Doodnauth and Chief Executive Officer of the airport, Mr. Leon Romero. (GOVERNMENT INFORMATION AGENCY)
