SUNDAY’S ‘all out’ flexing and pose down at the National Cultural Centre (NCC) will see a record number of athletes at one time competing on stage for the coveted crowns of Mr and Ms Guyana and the third category Ms Body Fitness.

Some 30 athletes, according to the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GABBFF), will be taking to the stage not only for the crowns but also for selection to ‘Team CAC’ for the Central American and Caribbean Championships to be hosted here from October 1 to 3.

The competition in the male division will see a number of former winners in various contests such as Mr Linden, Mr Berbice, Mr West Demerara, Mr Guyana, Mr CAC - Bantamweight and several former Mr Guyana winners including Paul Nichols, Sylvon Gardner and Lindy Sharpe.

Some 22 males will compete in the Mr Guyana, light, middle and heavyweight divisions. Eight females will participate in the two divisions -- five in the Ms Guyana and three in the Ms Body Fitness.

Heading the Mr Guyana lightweight division is Gardner, the reigning Mr Guyana and CAC double gold medallist in the bantamweight division, and he will also represent the Power Plant Camp; Noel Cummings (Flex Gym), Errald Thorne Mr Physique 2004, lightweight winner of Fitness Paradise; Mike Morris Mr Physique 2003 and CAC Representative 2003 also of Fitness Paradise; Anthony Thom former Mr Guyana Lightweight, CAC Bronze Medallist 2001 former Mr Flex Night of Interline Fitness; Oswin Jones also of Interline Fitness Gym; Anand Persaud Mr Berbice 2003 of Heavy Duty Gym; Bridgemohan Surujballi - Amo's Gym; Brad-li Sue-Laing and Ray Lagoudine both of Studio 2000.

The Mr Guyana middleweight division will see the likes of Paul Nichols former Mr Guyana, CAC Silver/Bronze Medallist and the Power Plant Camp, the builder that upset Nichols last year at the seniors Olwayn Lynch, the current Mr West Demerara 2003 and CAC 2003 representative of Interline Fitness, Clint Duke former Mr Guyana Middleweight and Mr Linden 2004 of Upper Demerara,

Wilbur Force Mr. Body Beautiful 2004 - Intermediates from Winderouju Berbice, Adrian Andries and Marlon Bennett of Internline Fitness Gym, Arian Amsterdam of Upper Demerara Barbell Club and Rawle Small, Lear Goring and Lloyd George of Studio 2000.

The heavyweight division will have Lindy Sharpe, former Mr Guyana and former CAC Bronze medallist, and Bruce Whatley of the Kingsrow Barbell Gym.

Meanwhile, one of the most accomplished and anticipated female bodybuilding line-ups, including Delia Bruney-Dutt Ms Body Beautiful 2004 and Ms Physique 2001 who stormed back onto the scene with her rip physique will go head with gym member Kimberley Mars Ms Physique 2004 and Ms. Flex Night 2003 and Gail Russell Ms. Physique 2003, while Karen Kellman Ms Physique 2003 - Runner-up and Shellon Yarde Ms Body Beautiful 2004, Runner-up complete the Ms Guyana division.

The Ms Body Fitness category will see Fiona Harris, Vanessa Adamson Ms Physique 2004, and Aretha Adams vying to gain the judges’ nod for the top spot.

The first annual GABBFF and IPA’s Universal Nutrition championship will also have prizes totalling close to $1M, again the most lucrative form of prizes the federation in its history will be presenting.

Showdown time is 19:00 hrs with admission $1 000 for adults and $500 for children.
