The Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) is inviting applications from residents of Georgetown and East Bank Demerara who may be interested in providing "bed and breakfast" accommodation for tourists during the 2007 World Cup Cricket tournament.

According to an advertisement carried in yesterday's edition of the Stabroek News, anyone who is interested in responding to this invitation can contact the GTA on telephone number: 223-6351-2; by email: visitguyana@networksgy.com or via its website: www.guyana-tourism.com.

Guyana is one of a number of Caribbean countries which has bid for World Cup matches and a decision is expected to be made later this year.

In the meanwhile, the various competitors are beginning to organise bed and breakfast-type accommodation for the hordes of tourists who are expected to descend on the Caribbean for the matches. A variety of accommodation is needed and there are concerns that current hotel capacity in some countries is inadequate.
