A national holiday has been declared for Guyana's 38th Independence Anniversary.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, the Golden Arrowhead will be raised at midnight on May 25 in the National Park. This will be preceded by a cultural presentation, which starts at 7.30 pm. The ceremonial function will begin at 10.30 pm and includes a Joint Services Guard of Honour and President Bharrat Jagdeo's Independence Anniversary address to the nation.

The flag-raising ceremony will be followed by a grand fireworks display sponsored by CLICO.
