Guyana's doubles pairs at the 10th Latin American table tennis championships currently underway in Valencia, Venezuela, failed to land a medal yesterday.

In fact, all of the pairs with the exception of Matthew Khan and Christopher Franklyn in the under-21 boys' doubles failed to get past their first-round opponents.

In the boys' under-18 doubles Zach Gonsalves and Jonathan Sankar lost to Andres Cortes and Felipe Nilo of Chile 11-7, 11-7, 11-7 while in the girls' under-18 doubles Delicia Cummings and Trenace Lowe were beaten 11-6, 11-3, 11-2 by Marcele Andrade and Beatriz Campillay of Chile. The other girls' pair of Jody Ann Blake and Michelle John won the first game 11-7 against Carmen Paz Arenas and Rosine Concha of Chile but lost the next three 7-11, 5-11, 5-11.

In the boys' under-21 doubles Orin Hickerson and Marlon Joseph were beaten by Venezuela's Ronald Arrieta and Munir Yorde 11-5, 11-3, 11-5 while Khan and Franklyn got past their first-round opponents Andres Chary and David Chaviedo 5-11, 3-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-2.

However, the Franklyn/Khan combination was beaten in the next round by the Guatemalan pair of Hector Gatica and Miguel Ramirez 11-4, 11-5, 11-8.
