A temporary arrangement is in place with the Guyana Revenue Authority and the Finance Ministry to facilitate certain categories of remission letters until formal agreements are solidified between the specific industry and the government.

A release from the Guyana Manufacturers' Association says after The Fiscal Enactments (Amend-ment) Act was passed in September certain importers of equipment, supplies and spares were not catered for as under the Secretary to the Treasury Letters(ST) system.

As a result representatives from the GMA and the GRA met on Monday to discuss a temporary system for those businesses. Both the GMA and the GRA agreed to meet regularly to discuss these issues, according to the release.

The GMA delegation was headed by Doreen de Caires, vice-president of membership.

The GMA stated in the release that they will "work closely with the GRA and other agencies to assist their staff in identifying genuine supplies, spare parts and equipment for use in the manufacturing sector and with which some officers may not be familiar."
