Police in Linden are investigating an incident at the Linden Technical Institute (LTI) which resulted in a male teacher stabbing the principal, Michael Turner yesterday morning.

According to information reaching Stabroek News, the teacher had a heated argument with the principal over some money owed to him.

It was said that after the principal bluntly refused to agree to pay him, the teacher pulled out a sharp instrument and wounded Turner.

It was not clear whether the instrument used was a knife or another pointed object. However, school was immediately suspended and the principal was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex.

Shortly after the incident, the teacher was arrested and was in police custody up to late yesterday afternoon. However, he was released from police custody to seek medical treatment since it was observed that he had a wound on his head. No official of the Department of Education could be contacted to ascertain if school would be open today.
