Phillips attracting admirers in Miss Universe run up

Global Beauties [ please note: link provided by LOSP web site ] , the beauty world portal that covers international competitions has shown interest in the reigning Miss Guyana Universe [ please note: link provided by LOSP web site ] , says Odinga Lumumba.

For its website, Global Beauties has requested additional photographs of Odessa Phillips and will headline her in the lead-up to the pageant. Lumumba, local franchise holder, made this disclosure on Friday at a press conference.

Phillips who won the crown on December 28, will leave for Quito, Ecuador tomorrow. Some 81 delegates from across the globe will compete for the title of Miss Universe 2004.

Lumumba said that Phillips' photograph was among the select few rotating on a billboard at 42nd Street in New York.

The local queen completed her training while in the US and later flew to Trinidad and Tobago where her coaching continued with hair and make-up tips. Local overseas-based designer, Roger Gary has created Phillips' evening gown and Dereck Moore has designed her national costume.

Phillips, who was recently named spokesperson for Solid Waste Management in Guyana, will follow through with the topic as her platform on the international scene.

She is the first local queen to have won the titles of Miss Guyana Universe and Miss World. The pageant is billed for June 1.
