NORTH American Airlines now has four weekly non-stop flights to New York. The flights, which were put into effect from June 1, are on Tuesdays, Thursdays Saturdays and Sundays.

The airlines formally introduced the flights earlier this month at a cocktail reception at the World's Fair Banquet Hall in Flushing, New York.

The function, held on June 11, also served the dual purpose of expressing gratitude to travel agents who have worked to make the five-year-old airline a success.

"When we started in July 1999, a lot of people never thought we could have made it this far, but thanks to you folks, we have, and I'm sure I can rely on you to keep us going for more than another five years," Sales and Marketing Manager of North American's (NA) office in New York, Billy Braithwaite told the travel agents.

Recalling memories of snow cone carts in Guyana, he urged agents and passengers alike to consider his airline as "shave ice" with all the works.

"Our prices compare with anything on the market. When you compare price and product, it's like shave ice - if you buy the plain shave ice it's different from when you buy the shave ice with syrup and condensed milk. What we have is syrup and condensed milk, hence if you are asked to pay a dime more for it, you should jump at that," he told the gathering which included travel agents from Guyana who were on a FAM Trip to New York, compliments of the airline.

According to NA's Georgetown Sales Manager, Mr. Junior Horatio, who also spoke at the function, the airline offers a "truly the best non-stop" service.

"I don't think that is being boastful, but factual," he said.

With the introduction of the four non-stop flights this summer, Horatio said the airline wants to ensure that it can provide a "very good service, on-time performance, minimal baggage service complaints, in general good customer service on the ground and in the air, and definitely in our dealings with customers and travel agents."

He added that the agents are integral to the functioning of the airline and that is why NA views them as partners.

"We had said when we started that we were not in for the mile, but in for the marathon, and I think we are proving it," Horatio said.
