CARIBBEAN number one junior player Jody-Ann Blake claimed four titles in the Independence table tennis tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Blake claimed golds in the Under-18 Girls and Women’s Singles, while she teamed up with Trenace Lowe to take the Girls Doubles title and along with Zach Gonsalves, won the Mixed Doubles.

Blake ranked fifth in the Caribbean, defeated Trenace Lowe in the Under-18 Girls final in straight games, 11-6, 11-5, 11-4, with Caribbean number two seed Michelle John claiming the third spot, overcoming Delicia Cummings, 12-10, 11-8, 12-10.

In the women’s singles, Blake got past John, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-7 to take the crown while Lowe defeated Rhonda Farley for the third place spot, 11-8, 8-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8 in a hotly contested match.

In the Girls Doubles, Blake and Lowe joined forces to beat the Cummings/John combination, 11-8, 10-12, 11-8, 11-5, with the Ambrose Thomas/Nasiah Hadmon combination taking the third spot.

Blake then teamed up with Zach Gonsalves to take the mixed doubles title, defeating the pair of Marlon Joseph/Lowe, 10-12, 4-11, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5, with the brother and sister combination of Michelle and Michael John taking the third place spot, defeating Edhino Lewis/Cummings, 4-11, 5-11, 11-7, 12-10, 11-4.

In the junior category, Adiele Rosheuvel won the Under-9 Girls round robin division with Britnee Prescod taking second and Andrea Sergeant third.

Winners were to be presented with their prizes, yesterday, the final day.
