VISITING President of the Executive Board of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Ambassador Ledohang Kenneth Moleko has added his voice of concern to the ongoing saga of the 13-year-old girl and city businessman Reeaz Khan.

The diplomat declared Wednesday that the child “has been turned into a sex slave” by an older man.

Mr Molekao made the remarks during a visit to St Francis Community Developers at Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice.

The envoy, alluding to the headline ‘Rights group outraged by ‘exploitation’ of 13-year-old – can’t vote, drive or leave school but can have sex’ in a daily newspaper, said he was touched by the child abuse.

It’s a story of a young girl who is having sex with a man about my age… it is child abuse and this is something the community should fight against,” the UN delegate said.

He added that the act is against the Convention of the Rights of the Child and urged more collaboration with UNICEF on child protection.
