PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, (CMC) - St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) are setting the pace at the 2004 West Indies Women’s Cricket Federation

(WIWCF) championship after recording their third consecutive win on Saturday.

Undefeated SVG whipped Grenada by 91 runs and jumped to 10 points in
the tournament standings, five points clear of reigning champions Trinidad and Tobago and St. Lucia, who are joint second.

In Saturday’s other games, T&T maintained their title hopes when they
defeated St. Lucia, while Guyana edged Jamaica.

At Pierre Road, West Indies player Juliana Nero top-scored with 60 and
pushed SVG to 176 for nine off their 50 overs against the Grenadians.

Helen Hunte picked up two for 25 for Grenada, who replied with 85 all out in 36 overs.

Lydia Edgar (24) was the top-scorer, while Cordell Jack (3-14) and Jennifer Charles (3-23) led the bowling for SVG, who had defeated Barbados and Jamaica in their other completed games.

All the first round games had been rained out -- as no-results -- on Tuesday.

Trinidad and Tobago, who have played one game less than SVG, made a
potentially difficult match against former champions and archrivals St.

Lucia look easy as the got top performances from their West Indies

Batting first, T&T piled up 210 for five off their 50 overs, with Nelly Williams (61), Shane De Silva (46), and Envis Williams (39) leading the way against Doris Francis (2-27).

Guyana handed former champions Jamaica their second consecutive defeat with a tense one-run victory at Preysal.Batting first, the Guyanese posted 142 for five off their 46 overs, with Faye Franklyn (37) and Abina Parker (23) getting most runs against Kadeth Kidd (2-25).

Jamaica replied with 141 for seven off their 46 overs.

Patrice Cuffie (41) and Jackie Robinson (40) topped Jamaica’s batting
while Michelle Fitzalbert (2-29) was Guyana’s top bowler.

The tournament was continuing yesterday with Barbados facing Jamaica,
Guyana against SVG, and T&T meeting Grenada.
