BROOKLYN, New York, (CMC) - New York-based Guyanese honoured their reigning world boxing champions Wayne ‘Big Truck’ Braithwaite and ‘Vicious’ Vivian Harris at a dinner on Sunday evening.

Organised by Seon Bristol of Briso's Promotion, JRG Fashion Cafe and the Guyana North America Boxing Association, the function to celebrate the achievements of the two outstanding pugilists was held at the JRG Fashion Cafe on Flatbush Avenue.

The dignitaries who attended the dinner included Senator John Sampson, former world welterweight champion Mark Breland of the USA and Guyanese boxing legends Kenny Bristol and Lennox Blackmore.

Both boxers, who successfully defended their titles on April 17, received plaques.

Harris won against Turkey’s Germany-based Oktay Urkal in Berlin, while Braithwaite defeated the Dominican Republic’s Louis Azille at the Madison Square Garden in New York.

In securing a narrow points win over Urkal, Harris improved his record to 23 wins (16 knockouts) against one loss and one draw, while the unbeaten Braithwaite snatched a unanimous points win over Azille, to lift his record to 21-0, with 17 knockouts.
