GUYANESE champion powerlifter-turned-bodybuilder, Hugh Ross, made another first on Saturday, when he won the Masters, the Open Light Heavyweight and the Men's Open Overall qualifying as a Musclemania Pro overall at the 13th Annual Musclemania Atlantic competition in East Haven, Connecticut, USA.

The competition was Ross's second appearance after making his debut by winning the Novices Open and Masters division at the same competition last year. This year he returned for the "whole kettle of fish" and won the overall along with each division he entered.

Ross joins a list of topnotch bodybuilders like Skip LaCour to win this event. Most of the Musclemania winners have gone on to make quite an impact on the sport of bodybuilding and have appeared in numerous bodybuilding magazines and videos.

Wayne Goudreault Musclemania Judge and regular guest of the Guyana Amateur Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (GABBFF) said "he (Ross) looked phenomenal. He was thick and cut and hard".

This is the first time that a Guyanese has won this event. Hugh continues to make serious waves in the world of bodybuilding, and is likely to represent Guyana at this year's Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding & Fitness Championships scheduled for October, 2004.

The GABBFF honoured Ross last year at the senior championships for his role in the development of the sport in Guyana.
