President Bharat Jagdeo visited Hope Beach, East Coast Demerara yesterday where he spent Easter Monday afternoon interacting with many people including children who had pitched tents and were flying kites.

The President accompanied by Advisor for Investment, Maniram Prashad, Odinga Lumumba, Adviser to the President, and Minister of Finance, Sasenarine Kowlessar on a walkabout at Hope Beach spent several hours meeting and chatting with people who was certainly in the mood of Easter celebration.

The turnout was good, it saw the beach lined with people and kites, there was hardly an empty space as people took position at almost every spot at the beach.

The sky was lighted up by the many kites that were flying in various colours and sizes by even the children who had also engaged themselves in swimming.

The President and his team visited several tents and took photographs with revelers and people who were out on picnic with their families.

He met Cryus in his tent, he had his tapir tied and lying on the ground, this attracted a large crowd.

There were also several food bars, beverage stands, games corner where lyrics songs of popular artistes blasted loudly from several large boob boom boxes.

The President met Soca Monarch, Mighty Rebel (Godfrey Phillips) whom he chatted with for a few minutes.

When asked by the Mighty Rebel, the nature of the President's visit he said that he is there to meet his people, play a friendly game of cricket and chat with the many children.

Mr. Bharat Jagdeo also had a chance to hold the smallest kite which is owned by Lionel Crandon and the most unusual kite, a boat kite which was beautifully decorated with bright colours by owner, Vin, from Unity Squatting Area, East Coast Demerara.

The President stopped to pay special attention to the children who were too eager to have their photo taken with the President.

The walkabout was welcomed by the people who were present at Hope Beach as many flocked and followed the President while he was there.
