Children should be protected, not violated
June 1, 2004
I WISH to commend Mr. P. Alexander for the article he wrote in Stabroek News 25/05/2004. I am happy that different ones are bold enough to speak out against injustices and other evils meted out against children in our society.
The Bible teaches, “Children are a heritage unto the Lord…” Also, Jesus Himself said: “Suffer the little children to come unto me…”
Some men, however, seem to have misinterpreted that and are saying, “Suffer the little girls to come unto me.”
Our society seems to be sick of incidences of child abuse, be it physical, sexual and/or emotional.
Everyone regardless of religious or political persuasion should speak out strongly against the advantages taken on children.
Children need to be protected, not violated. Children need to be adopted, not abducted, and children need love and affection from those who are entrusted into their care, not to make love with them or to use their bodies to satisfy lustful, evil, sensual, devilish sexual desires.
Some of these men can be father or grandfather to this child or those children.
The Bible says, "whoever offends one of these my children, it is better that he have not been born or put a milestone over his neck and cast himself into the sea."
