Lionel Lynch - Miner: 'I don't think that Lara should be removed from the captaincy because he is the most senior man on the team. You can't perform well all the time. Only the other day he came from South Africa where he made a lot of runs. I agree that he is not up to date as a captain but there is none better at this time. He is a very good cricketer but he is arrogant. Still he alone is not to blame for the non-performance of the team. I think that he is the last great West Indies player.'

Rabindra Ram - Mechanic: 'I believe that Brian Lara should step down as captain of the West Indies team. He is the most miserable captain the team has ever had. [Ridley] Jacobs is good and to me he is the most dedicated player in the team. Lara's batting performance lately is bad and he may be close to setting a new record for the most ducks in a series. When the players are on the field you get the feeling that everything is not ok, that something is wrong. The players themselves also need to be disciplined.'

Nand Ramroop - Minibus Conductor: 'Putting Lara down doesn't mean that you have a better man for the job. But if they know that they have a man to put then Lara should walk. The problem is coming from all around, not just the captain. I think that the players are suffering from a lack of spiritual motivation. The players need some guidance in this area to bring out their performance. Maybe the West Indian selectors and management could send the 'B' team to face the international teams and get the necessary exposure. I don't think that only the captain should face the blame for the bad performance of the team, but also the management, coaches and selectors. They all should share the blame. I feel too that the West Indies management takes too long to groom young players and when some of the young players perform well for the first or second time, they seem to lose their motivation. Consistency is a problem.'

Esther Smith - Private Sector employee: 'I don't have a problem with the other players. Lara is the one who is supposed to set the example. I prefer Carl Hooper any day as captain.'

Desmond Elcock - Minibus Driver: 'I don't think that Lara alone is at fault for the team's bad performance. The whole team should be blamed. But Lara's performance is not up to standard. He is the greatest as a batsman. I think that the players should be paid according to their performance.'

Brent Griffith - Unemployed: 'I don't think that he should be removed during the course of the series. But after the Bangladesh series I feel that they should give Shivnarine Chanderpaul a chance at the captaincy with all they say that he can't talk. I believe that Chanderpaul could handle the captaincy. Lara doesn't know how to inspire his players.'

Joycelyn Montague - Teacher: 'I think that Lara should be removed as captain of the West Indies team. Chanderpaul could do better. Lara is not getting the cooperation from the team. Since Carl Hooper left the team there is no cooperation there. The training is also weak and the team continues to play Lara, Sarwan and Chanderpaul in the top order. I am backing the team against Bangladesh but they need to remove Lara so that the team's performance could be improved.'

Seacenarine Khanai - Student: 'Lara's presence as captain of the West Indies team is keeping the players down. I think that he needs to remove from the captaincy. He is not really capable for that position in the West Indies team. I find that he does not switch his bowlers. To me, Chanderpaul is more capable for the captaincy and he would get the team's respect.'

Ranette Dharry - Housewife: 'I would change the captaincy. I think that Lara is flying too high right now. Probably the captaincy is getting to his head. I like Sarwan to be the captain but I don't think that he would get the team's respect right now. It would be good if they could put back Carl Hooper. I also like Ridley Jacobs and Chris Gayle for the captaincy. I would just like them to win; they need to concentrate more.'

Aubrey Ollivierre - Vendor: 'I believe that they should give Lara one more try in the test in Barbados and if he fails he should step down. I don't believe that he is in form right now and I would recommend Jacobs for the job of captain.'

Jacqueline Sumner - Supervisor: 'I believe that Lara should step down because without him the team performs better. I would not recommend Hooper to replace him because he is big. The members of the team have no respect for Lara. I feel that they would give 100% better performance if they get Lara out of the team.'
