Guyana fully supports the Jamaica government's decision to have Haiti's deposed President Jean Bertrand-Aristide visit the island, says Foreign Affairs Minister Rudy Insanally, the Government Information Agency (GINA) reported yesterday.

"We are in agreement with this initiative by Jamaica, and they were good enough to inform Guyana about Aristide's impending visit to the island," Minister Insanally said in a comment to GINA. He said further that CARICOM heads at their meeting in St Kitts later this month will take the opportunity to review the recent developments in the region.

Jamaica's Prime Minister P.J. Patterson is the current CARICOM chairman.
