Cyd Hooper's "Linkin' Up" edged out Compton Hodge's "Balloon City" to win the Road March title this year.

The two songs were top favourites even in the Soca Monarch competition on February 22 when "Balloon City" had emerged winner.

"Linkin" became the talk of the town after it was launched last year and people preferred to say they were linking. It was the most frequently played song while costumes and floats were passing the judges booths along the parade route.

A release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said that close to 40 songs were received for the competition which enabled budding singers to write songs and produce music for Mashramani celebrations.

No second place winner was named in the competition.
