Investors snap up Demtoco shares

On the heaviest day of trading since the exchange opened, investors yesterday bought heavily into shares of Demerara Tobacco Company (DTC).

DTC's price solidified at $160 having shot up from $65 the week before. Over $7 million worth of shares changed hands with the largest block traded at $2.43 million. Other companies seeing light action were Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry trading at $28, Demerara Distillers Ltd trading at $7.40, Banks DIH at $5.90 and National Bank of Industry and Commerce at $12. Total trades amounted to $7.18 million.
