Ian Harris is aiming to be Road March King 2004 with his song "Celebration".

Known as 'Crusher', a fired up Harris hopes revellers will gyrate to his piece when they take to the streets on Mash Day.

The infectious song focuses on identifying Mashramani as a national event which brings Guyanese together and calls on the masses to turn out come February 23.

A steel pan enthusiast in his early teens, Harris played with several local bands and won almost every competition he entered over a period of seven years.

He was part of the Banks Invaders as a budding steel pan maestro and went on to join City Jammers which ruled the local steel pan scene for some time. Harris later found a home with the Park Side Steel Orchestra where he continued playing pan up until his exit from the local scene to pursue academic qualifications.

Harris had also rocked the local calypso scene. At age 14 he entered the National Calypso Competition 14-17 category and placed third with a piece titled, "Say no to drugs".

"Caribbean People", which followed, highlighted Harris' talent as a calypsonian.

Harris is now back on the scene with "Celebration". The singer described his love for soca as "new found".
