A city undertaker and another man said to be an ex-policeman were said to have been questioned by police in connection with the death of Shafeek Bacchus, who died in a drive-by shooting last Monday.

Stabroek News understands that the two men were held on Friday evening to assist with ongoing investigations. They were supposed to have been released but this could not be confirmed yesterday.

Bacchus was killed while sitting in a clearing across the road from his house on Princes Street late Monday evening.

George Bacchus, the brother of Shafeek, gave a statement to the police on Wednesday identifying the men who he says were responsible for his brother's death.

Yesterday, police requested Bacchus' presence to clarify aspects of his statement and for a confrontation with the two men who had been held. But Bacchus was unable to go because his attorney is out of the country.
