The Guyana Police Force has noted the success of greater mobile and foot patrols in Georgetown and outlying areas and said crime was quite low over the festive season. The force has thanked the general public for their patience, support and co-operation over the Christmas period.

Shoppers, commuters and businesses are further credited by police who said that people had taken their advice and in so doing helped to reduce opportunities for criminal activity.
