KARACHI, Pakistan, (CMC) - Shaiza Khan’s fine all-round effort spurred Pakistan to a 20-run victory over West Indies in the third Women’s One-Day International (ODI) at Karachi Gymkhana on Thursday.

Sent in to bat, Pakistan made 160 for nine off their 50 overs, and the West Indies replied with 140 all out off 47.3 overs to have their lead in the seven-match series cut to 2-1.

Khan top-scored with 30 and then picked up four for 24 off nine overs as the Pakistanis snapped a three-game losing streak against the West Indies.

Pakistan had received a positive start when openers Kiran Baluch (23) and Sajjida Shah (17) posted 44 for the first wicket.

Nazia Nazir (26) and Zehmarad Afzal (21) and had good contributions in the middle-order, before Khan -- batting at number eight -- helped steer the innings past the 150-mark.

Envis Williams, with two for 24 off 10 overs, and 19-year-old medium pacer Candacy Atkins, with two for 30 off eight overs, led the West Indies bowling, supported by Doris Francis (1-15) and Verena Felicien (1-33).

The West Indies quickly slipped to 20 for two in their reply when they lost Nelly Williams (3) and Juliana Nero (5), and while the middle-order also wobbled, opener Nadine George played another solid innings to top-score with 30.

Last week the left-handed George became the Caribbean side’s first-ever Women’s Test century-maker in the one-off Test match between the two teams.

Atkins (17), Debbie-Ann Lewis (16) and captain Stephanie Power (15) were the only others getting to double figures for the West Indies, who had won the first two matches to add to their seven-wicket win over the Pakistanis at last summer’s World Cup qualifying competition in Holland.

Nazia Nazir, with two for five and Khursheed Jabeen (2-14) were the next best bowlers for Pakistan.
