F&H Supremes, playing in their first ever dominoes competition, showed their intentions early to come out tops in the fourth annual memorial Oscar E. Shew dominoes tournament played last week Sunday at the Everest Cricket Club.

With some nine teams participating under a new points system implemented by Manniram Shew, debutants F&H Supremes totalled 374 points, followed closely by Desperado on 371 points and Honesty bring up the rear with 350 points. The points system was implemented so as to avoid teams being tied.

The breakdown of the points system read: for each 6 games made equals 15 points, each 5 games made equals 10 points, each 4 games made equals 8 points; each 3 games made equals 6 points; each 2 games made equals 4 points; each 1 game made equals 1 point; for each love equals -5 points.

The top markers for the winning team were B. Persaud, S. Mayars, S. Bumbury and H. Hakh for the winners, while L. Persaud, M. Persaud, Z Mohamed and M. Mohamed chipped in for Desperado and P. Naraine, S. Fowler and S. Hunte made sure Honesty’s participation was not in vain.

The competition started with a one minute silence for the late Oscar Shew and then Lion Raymond Ali-Shaw made a speech on the life of the former Charter Member Lion on behalf of the South Georgetown Lions Club.

Captain of Everest Cricket Club Hassan Mohamed welcomed the teams that participated and wished the continued support from the deceased son Manniram Shew.

Teams participating were: International Six, IMW, Providence Sports Club, Honesty, F&H Supremes, Desperado, Traders, Canal Six and Village.
